DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A section of North Dallas is taking issue with the old adage “lightning never strikes twice” following confirmation that two tornadoes touched down on Sunday afternoon.
The National Weather Service confirmed on Monday that two separate twister’s touched down in North Dallas during Sunday’s storm.
“With the damage we saw in the trees and the direction of the damage with the rotation on that radar, it was clear that tornado damaged occurred,” NWS Meteorologist, Patricia Sanchez said.
Sanchez confirmed that an EF-O twister touched in University park. She also confirmed and EF-1 tornado on Northaven Road. The worst of the damage was felt in the same area of North Dallas that was hit hard by an EF-3 twister in 2019.
“We went through the tornado in 2019,” said Diana Rowden, who lives behind Northaven Gardens. “It wasn’t nearly as bad as that, but I felt that change in pressure like there was a microburst. It was pretty fierce.”
Similar to the 2019 storm, residents are thankful no one was seriously hurt.
