Wichita Falls Family Among Four Killed After Plane Crashes Into Mississippi Home

WICHITA FALLS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Wichita Falls family are among four people who were killed when a private plane crashed into a home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi this week.

The Forrest County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 67-year-old Dr. Louis Provenza, 23-year-old Anna Calhoun and 2-year-old Harper Provenza.

The crash also killed 55-year-old Gerry Standley of Hattiesburg, who was inside the house.

Authorities said the Mitsubishi MU-2B-60 took off from the Wichita Falls Regional Airport late Tuesday night and crashed while trying to land at Hattiesburg Airport.

According to KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, Dr. Provenza was a neurosurgeon at United Regional Hospital. The hospital group issued a statement about his passing:

“We are so very saddened about the loss of Dr. Louis Provenza. He has touched the lives of so many and will be greatly missed,” said the statement.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating a crash.
