Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – The Texas Senate passed a bill that gives those who have been censored on social media a way to fight back. Texas Senate Bill 12 was introduced by District One State Senator Bryan Hughes.
Hughes posted a video to Twitter after the vote. The GOP senator from North Texas claimed that Republicans are censored on social media more than their Democrat counterparts, alleging a violation of their free speech rights.
In the video, Hughes first touts Texas Senate passage Senate Bill 7, which further restricts mail in balloting, cuts extended voting days and bars local governments from sending out mail-in ballot applications even if a person is qualified.
Later into the video, Hughes says that Senate Bill 12 will ‘get Texans back online.’
Hughes of Mineola, says the bill was approved after 2 a.m. Thursday. The bill targets Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and other social media sites.
