Collin County Authorities asking for Patience in Investigation into Death of Jail Inmate

MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF) – Collin County authorities are promising transparency in the investigation into the recent death of a jail inmate.

Marvin Scott III died in the Collin County jail Sunday after he was arrested on a marijuana charge in Allen. Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner said Friday that Scott began acting strange in the jail booking area.

“Several detention Officers tried to secure him to a restraint bed and during the process used OC spray once and also used a spit mask on his face,” Sheriff Skinner said.

According to Skinner, 7 jail employees were placed on administrative leave while the Texas Rangers investigate what happened. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office is conducting an administrative investigation.

“The death of this young man is a profound tragedy,” said Sheriff Skinner. “And we have an obligation to uncover the full and complete truth.”

Activists plan to protest outside the jail until the seven employees are fired.
