DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Dallas’s drive-up COVID-19 vaccination center opens on Thursday at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
The city plans to keep the site open until it the allocated 5,000 doses of vaccine runs out. City leaders expect to vaccinate 2,000 people per day through Saturday.
“The ability to allow people to stay in the comfort of a heated car for a hopefully a short period of time, we think it very important,” said Dallas Fire-Rescue Medical Director, Dr. Marshall Isaacs. “It doesn’t require that they are exposed to the elements, or have to walk a long way.”
A Dallas County Public Health Committee prioritized who gets the available shots based on state criteria including age and chronic medical conditions.
The site isn’t limited to Dallas residents. All names were pulled from the Dallas County online registry.
