Grand Prairie Police Officer Resigns, Accused of Pointing a Gun at Ride-Share Driver in Dallas

GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Grand Prairie police officer has resigned after being arrested in Dallas last month for allegedly pointing a firearm at a ride-share driver.

The Grand Prairie Police Department said it was notified by the Dallas Police Department that Matthew Huber had been booked into the Lew Sterrett Justice Center on an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge for the incident on December 12,2020.

Once the department learned of the arrest, Grand Prairie police launched an internal investigation and subsequently relieved Huber of his department credentials and placed on administrative leave.

Huber resigned on January 7, 2021 hours before he was scheduled to meet with his chain of command for his disciplinary hearing.

Grand Prairie Police Chief Daniel Scesney said the allegations against Huber are unacceptable.

“It is my expectation that all Grand Prairie Police employees, on or off duty, conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the high level of trust placed in us by the public we serve. Any actions that violate that trust are inconsistent with our organizational values and will not be tolerated,” he siad.

Huber was hired in 2017 and had no disciplinary action in his personnel file.

The Dallas Police Department is conducting the investigation.
