FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- India’s first-ever government plane, for flying dignitaries, recently flew non-stop from Fort Worth Alliance Airport to New Delhi, India.

Tom Harris, President of Alliance Air Services says the plane covered roughly 8,000 miles in just over 15 hours and it was made possible by the airport’s milestone runway extension.

“The extended runway provides them the capability to go further when they leave Alliance Airport with a full load of cargo and a full load of fuel so it gives them extended range,” said Harris. “The expansion will continue to provide greater flight capability and enable long-haul flights to take off fully-fueled under almost any weather condition. Transforming the role of Alliance Airport regionally and nationally enables expanded non-stop flight opportunities to boost business capabilities in Fort Worth and beyond.”

Harris said this major accomplishment will lead the way for Alliance to do business with more international companies.
He notes this runway expansion will also help Alliance Airport’s hub for FedEx and Amazon Air.

“Because of the Covid-19 environment we are in today, FedEx and Amazon have been very busy with online orders. Right now it’s only domestic flights but in the very near future we anticipate they will start flying internationally out of Alliance Airport,” said Harris.

Harris said company executives can fly out of Alliance from almost anywhere in the world which is another selling point for business expansion.

“When talking to folks from a consolidation standpoint or  whether they’re looking to move their headquarters to Alliance, having this airport infrastructure will be very meaningful,” he said.

Fort Worth Alliance Airport anchors AllianceTexas, a 26,000-acre mixed-used, master-planned development in north Fort Worth, and is considered one of the most successful projects of its kind in the world. When Fort Worth Alliance Airport opened, it was the country’s first industrial airport.
