According to the Carrollton Police Department, detectives have charged 48-year-old Keith T. Ashley of with Murder for the shooting death of 62-year-old James “Jim” Seegan of Carrollton.

Seegan’s wife found her husband dead of a gunshot wound to the head when she returned to their home on Cannes Drive in the early evening of February 19 . Directly next to him was a typed note indicating it was a suicide.

Over the course of a nine-month investigation, detectives found evidence that Ashley incapacitated, then murdered Seegan in an attempt to gain control of his finances.

DeVito said Ashley was a friend and financial advisor of Seegan’s who would visit the Seegan home periodically.

During the course of the investigation, detectives also identified several other victims of a “Ponzi”-type scheme Ashley orchestrated.
