DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Hope springs eternal and yet has again collapsed for democrats dreaming of a Blue Wave in Texas.
The presidential race was tight in the early vote counting but when it was finished President Trump won the Lone Star State by six percentage points, out polling Joe Biden in the rural counties by a wide margin.
John Cornyn was reelected to his U.S. Senate seat by defeating MJ Hegar in what was expected to be a tight, potentially toss up, race. Republicans also won races in the Texas Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeals and Republican Jim Wright won reelection as Railroad Commissioner. The Texas Tribune reports the Texas House, considered to be the Democrats’ best hope, seemingly ended leaving Republicans with a narrow victory and advantage in the Statehouse.
In what has become a common post-election proclamation of hope, Ed Espinoza, executive director of Progress Texas, said, “With every election, we’re getting one step closer to that change.”
Perhaps. On the other hand it was Governor Greg Abbott who prophesied last week, “Democrats’ dreams will be crushed again.”
