Work Crews Still Trying To Clean Up Train Derailment

Mauriceville (WBAP/KLIF) – Hazmat crews are still working (Friday) to clean up the wreckage of a train derailment in southeast Texas. 25 cars of a Kansas City Southern freight train came off the tracks Thursday near the Louisiana state line in the small Texas town of Mauriceville. The derailed freight cars were piled on top of each other across the six tracks, and hazmat crews were called in because some chemical tank cars were leaking. Mauriceville homes, businesses, and schools within a mile of the derailment were evacuated, but there are no known injuries.
