Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas based Studio Movie Grill filed for bankruptcy Friday. The dine-in theater chain says it is nearly out of money because the COVID-19 pandemic is keeping audiences away. Chairman Brian Schultz says Studio Movie Grill plans to continue operating while it restructures under the supervision of a U.S. bankruptcy court. The pandemic forced Studio Movie Grill to temporarily close all its locations earlier this year. About a third of the company’s 33 theaters are still closed.
The country’s biggest movie theater chain, AMC Entertainment Holdings, has said it will likely run out of cash by the end of this year, or early 2021.
