NEW BOSTON  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Family, friends and community members are rallying around an East Texas family whose loved one was killed in a gruesome murder-for-baby plot.

New Boston Police said 22-year-old Reagan Hancock was killed and her baby was cut from her womb last Friday by someone she considered a to be a friend.

According to the Texarkana Gazette, Hancock was seven-and-a-half months pregnant.

Now, the East Texas community is raising money to help Hancock’s family pay for funeral expenses via a PayPal fundraiser that’s already raised more than $20,000.

The campaign was created by Justin Whitehead, who urged residents to help Hancock’s bereaved husband Homer, their daughter and extended family.

“Let’s rally together to raise enough money to take any stress off him for any and all expenses that will occur,” his statement read.

The fundraiser comes as authorities gather more information about why the murder occurred.

Police said a family member made the horrific discovery October 9th around 10:20 a.m. and immediately called police.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said 27-year-old Taylor Parker, who was an acquaintance of Hancock’s, has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping charges.

OSBI said Parker was arrested in Oklahoma, claimed to have given birth along the highway and told first responders her baby wasn’t breathing, according to People.

After first refusing to be checked out, doctors  discovered that Parker had not given birth and investigators said she eventually admitted to the crime.

Hancock’s baby died at the hospital.

Parker is being held in Oklahoma and will eventually be transported back to Texas.

Last December, a Houston area woman was killed by a friend who’s in jail in connection to an alleged plot to take the woman’s baby.

33-year-old Megan Fieramusca is charged with capital murder and kidnapping in the death of Heidi Brussard.

Brussard’s then 3-month old daughter was found safe and returned to her family.
