DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Monday’s planned debate in a race for a North Texas congressional seat was called off late Sunday.
Republican Genevieve Collins and Democrat incumbent Collin Allred were set to take the debate stage in the race for TX-32 but Collins had to cancel after her having emergency surgery.
“Last Saturday Genevieve underwent an emergency appendectomy,” her campaign said in a statement. “Unfortunately she experienced further complications this weekend and underwent another surgery [Sunday]. She remains hospitalized and is grateful t her hardworking nurses and front line hospital workers.”
Collins is expected to make a full recovery. Her Campaign is working with her opponent’s team to possibly reschedule the debate for later this month.
Texas’ 32nd Congressional district includes parts of Northern Dallas and Southern Collin Counties.
(1/3) Thank you to everyone who has reached out and offered their prayers and support as I’ve gone through this unfortunate and untimely situation. I’m in awe of the incredible care I’ve received from the nurses, doctors & surgeons who helped take care of me these last few days.
