FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The Tarrant Area Food Bank is holding five mega mobile markets per week to help serve any and all residents of the Fort Worth community who are in need of food assistance, and anyone whose access to food has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Steve Martin with TAFB said each family will receive approximately 100 pounds of high-quality produce, meat, dairy and groceries.
“This gives them an opportunity to still feed their family and start making up some of the money that they lost out on when they lost their jobs,” said Martin. “The demographic that we are serving right now is the working class, not really the homeless, more so those who have been laid off or are recently going back to work are the people we are seeing show up in our line,” he said.
Martin said the markets will be held Tuesday through Saturday through the month of November in various locations across the Tarrant area. This has been made possible thanks to the Texas Department of Emergency Management, who graciously deployed members of the Army National Guard to TAFB in order to increase the productivity of the Mega Mobile Markets. Each family will receive approximately 100 pounds of high-quality produce, meat, dairy and groceries.
