China’s Diplomats Have Evacuated Their Consulate In Houston

Houston (WBAP/KLIF) – Chinese consular officials left the Chinese consulate in Houston Friday. The Trump administration had ordered the facility to shut down, alleging that it was a nest of spies. Vans bearing diplomatic plates left the consulate Friday afternoon. Federal agents then checked the locked doors of the consulate, and a locksmith was seen working to crack the lock on one door. The U.S. alleged hackers and spies in the consulate had been trying to steal data from a number of facilities in Texas, including the Texas A&M medical system, and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. China has since retaliated by ordering closure of the U.S. consulate in the Chinese city of Chengdu. The American diplomats there have until Monday to get out.
