Arkansas university won’t name building after Botham Jean

Searcy, AR (WBAP/KLIF) – The largest private college in Arkansas has decided not to re-name a building after a graduate who was killed by a Dallas police officer. Botham Jean, a black man, was shot and killed in his own living room in early September, 2018 by a white, off duty Dallas police officer. Harding University is in the process of changing the name of a building that was named after a former school president who actively opposed integration. Botham Jean’s name was proposed, but the current president has decided Jean will be remembered in some other way, although he hasn’t yet decided what that way will be.
