McKinney Wins Texas “Music Friendly” Certification

MCKINNEY- WBAP/KLIF – The city of McKinney has won “music friendly” certification from the state of Texas, clearing the way to add the North Texas city to a formidable list of other Lone Start State cities strongly pushing the growth of local music industries.   McKinney joins Austin, Fort Worth, Denton, Stephenville, Austin, San Antonio and others with the designation; Waxahachie, Dallas, and El Paso are among those other cities now seeking the same certification.

The designation allows individual cities to join a statewide marketing effort that hopes to grow the industries in many cities statewide.   McKinney spokeswoman Beth Shumate says the designation sends a message to the music industry that the city of McKinney is serious about developing the music business.

Steps to Certification as a Music Friendly Texas City: Host a Texas Music Office sponsored Music Friendly Community workshop.
