Texas state troopers will return to Dallas’ streets this summer

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – State troopers will be back on the streets of Dallas again this summer. Police Chief Renee Hall says DPS troopers and county constables will be brought in to help “fill the gaps” in high crime neighborhoods. Troopers were deployed in some Dallas neighborhoods for three months last summer. That touched off a series of complaints that they were focusing on small things such as broken taillights, instead of focusing on crime reduction. DPS says it’s re-focused, and that won’t happen this year. Police Chief Hall says they’ve had this plan ready since January, but getting it into operation was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
