Amarillo (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott is urging those who are planning elective surgeries to get them soon. He told a news conference in Amarillo this is the time; while hospitals are not slammed by coronavirus patients. Abbott said he is not predicting a surge in such cases, but he advises Texans it is wise to prepare as though such a wave of cases is likely. The Governor says that will allow the state again to shut off non-emergency medical work if it needs to free up hospital beds in case of a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases later this year.
