Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A group of local civil rights and faith leaders has filed a class-action lawsuit seeking an end to what it says are worsening conditions inside the Dallas County Jail. The lawsuit calls for the release of what it says are some 1800 medically vulnerable inmates whose lives are threatened by COVID-19. The lawsuit echoes a similar federal case filed last month. As of May 20, the Dallas County Jail reported 226 inmates and 62 jailers have tested positive for the coronavirus. The new lawsuit alleges that inmates cannot physically distance themselves from others, and have little access to soap and face masks.
