Carter BloodCare Hosts Blood Drives Throughout DFW to Help with Blood Shortage

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Cater BloodCare hosts several blood drives throughout the Metroplex Memorial Day Weekend to help combat the limited supply.

Linda Goelzer with Carter BloodCare said they are facing a critical shortage of blood due to COVID-19. “We have less than a days worth supply of blood. This is a grave situation,” said Goelzer. “Our blood supply is increasing in demand as hospitals want to resume non elective procedures that were on hold during the height of the pandemic and the community blood supply is what they are waiting on to be able to get to their full capacity,” she said.

Methodist Medical Center Dallas is partnering with Carter BloodCare to host a blood donation drive outside Victory Park on Friday, May 22nd 10am – 3pm

It will be located in the valet parking area on Victory Park Ln. and Museum Way.

No more than 4 donors will be allowed on the bus at a time.

The Galleria Dallas will also host  a three-day blood drive from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 22 to May 24, 2020. The blood drives will be located inside the shopping center, between Nordstrom and Grand Lux Café.

Free parking is available in the Orange Garage on the north side of Galleria Dallas, near Nordstrom. Blood donors should follow signage in the Orange Garage to enter the blood drive through the west side of the center near the Grand Lux Café. Blood donors are required to wear masks in order to enter the shopping center. Galleria Dallas’ set-up allows for the recommended social distancing between donor beds and in waiting areas. Appointments are strongly encouraged to help manage the flow and avoid crowding. Walk-in appointments will be accepted but extra precautions will be put in place. Donors without a scheduled appointment will check-in upon arrival and be directed to a designated waiting area until space is available.
