Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson 5-12-20

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- Amid the Coronavirus pandemic Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson provided an update on the city’s status in the fight against the virus.

Johnson touched on the topic of how the virus is disproportionately affecting lower class communities nationwide.

“We have to make sure all of our communities have access to testing that we are effectively conducting contact tracing and that our residents have access to healthcare,” said Mayor Johnson.

This has not yet been a huge issue in Dallas according to Johnson but in order to prevent it from becoming one he has appointed Dr. Kelvin Baggett as the City of Dallas COVID-19 Health and Health Care Access Czar.

Dr. Baggett will be finding solution to make sure all communities have access to testing and healthcare.

“I am honored that Mayor Johnson has asked me to fill this vital role, and I am gratified that I have this opportunity to use my skills and background to serve my community during this difficult time,” said Dr. Baggett, “This integrated and collaborative approach to how we deliver care and services will help Dallas rebound quicker economically and maintain our public health for the future.”
