Dallas Mayor Discusses Plan to Reopen City

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson on 4-30-20

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- As Texas begins to reopen on Friday, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson discussed the cities own plan for reopening.

Johnson says that even though public libraries are allowed to reopen under the guidelines set by Governor Greg Abbott, he does not believe Dallas is ready to make that step.

“We’re going to work very hard to get to a point where we can re-open our libraries safely,” said Mayor Johnson.

The city is also discussing ways to reopen the Dallas Zoo and the Dallas Arboretum under the 25% capacity rule, but wanted to emphasize that the city has not made an exact decision on if they will do so.

Johnson also announced that all of Dallas’ golf courses will be allowed to re open but under new guidelines set by Parks and Recreation Director John Jenkins

“Allow only one golfer per cart,” said Jenkins, “Golf pros will clean and sanitize carts after each rental and before being checked out,”

These are just a few of the 30 new regulations set by Jenkins.

Additionally, all Dallas tennis centers and shooting ranges will be allowed to reopen under multiple new guidelines including the 25% capacity rule set by Governor Greg Abbott.
