FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Recent numbers show that a Fort Worth prison is reporting 20% of the COVID-19 cases inside Federal U.S. prisons.
According to the Bureau of Prisons, the Federal Medical Center reports at least 241 of its approximate 1,300 total cases. The FMC plans to start testing inmates and staff without symptoms. But the sister of a current inmate at the center, who didn’t want to be named, said Wednesday that her brother she’s been worried for a while.
“When it started barreling down and the numbers started going up they tried to do something,” she said. “But it was already too late.”
The prison is no longer allowing visitors during the coronavirus pandemic.
At least three people have died at the center from the virus.
