Four Bars in The Fort Worth Stockyards Plan to Go Against Lockdown Orders

Fort Worth, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Four bars in the Fort Worth Stockyards have vowed to defy extended lockdown orders and reopen their doors on Friday, May 1.

Bars are not part of Governor Greg Abbott’s Phase-1 reopening plans beginning scheduled to commence Friday.

Among bars that expected to open is The Basement Bar where the owner calls the COVID19 lockdown, “meaningless and unconstitutional.”

A post on the business’ Facebook page reads, in part:

“If you really wanted to stop the spread of so called ‘virus’ everyone across the board should have been shut down and mandatory stay at home for 30 days. This didn’t and will never happen. So you’re basically kicking a can down the road. Meaningless lockdown not to mention unconstitutional.”

Meantime, the City of Fort Worth Code Department says it will continue issuing warnings and citations to violators of lockdown restrictions.
