Gold’s Gym Permanently Closing 30 Locations, 5 in North Texas, As Coronavirus Hits Fitness Industry Hard

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The coronavirus pandemic has decimated the fitness industry and forced one of its titans to shutter dozens of its locations.

Gold’s Gym announced it’s permanently closing 30 company-owned locations across the country including 11 in Texas.

In a message posted on Facebook, the company assured it’s customers and staff that the closures doesn’t mean the company is closing all together.

“Gold’s Gym has been the world’s trusted fitness authority for more than 50 years, and we’re absolutely not going anywhere. While the COVID-19 related closures have caused us to reassess the viability of some company-owned location and make the difficult decision to permanently close about 30 gyms, we know that we will emerge from this stronger and ready to grow,” the statement read in part. “Our focus is and always will be on our members in nearly 700 gyms in 29 countries around the world, and we look forward to welcoming you back as soon as it is safe for our members, team members and communities.”

Here is the list of the locations closing in North Texas:

2425 McKinney Ave., Dallas

8335 Westchester Drive, Dallas

1001 N. Beckley Ave., DeSoto

4501 S. General Bruce Drive, Temple
