Collin County Establishes Economic Recovery Task Force

MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF) – Collin County Judge Chris Hill announced this week that he has established an Economic Recovery Task Force in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“As a result of COVID-19 and the economic shutdown that has happened as a result, Collin County families are now suffering from two dangerous threats,” Judge Hill said. “First, to our collective public health; and second, to our ability to provide for our families’ basic needs. For weeks, we’ve been singularly focused on preventing the spread of COVID-19 and protecting the public health, and we’re seeing positive results from that strategy.”

The Judge said he is convinced that now, more than ever, the county needs a strategy that addresses both threats.

“We must take steps to help families recover from lost jobs and lost wages while also remaining focused on keeping families healthy,” Judge Hill said.

The newly established task force is comprised of business and industry experts and leaders from corporations and small businesses across the county and across various industries.

“I tasked this team to develop strategies to get Collin County families back to work safely and as soon as possible; and to develop ideas for city, county, and state policy makers to promote a sustainable economic recovery in Collin County,” said Judge Hill. “Their guidance, taken together with the advice of our medical doctors and scientists, will provide the foundation of our strategy to get Collin County families back to work.”
