Much Needed Public Library Opening in North Fort Worth this Summer

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The City of Fort Worth is getting a new public library in far North Fort Worth. The 15,000 square foot Golden Triangle Library is set to open this Summer.
Theresa Davis with the Fort Worth Library said the city’s library system is significantly behind Fort Worth’s population, so this is much needed. “We’ve seen a significant amount of growth outside of Loop 820 in Fort Worth and the majority of our libraries reside inside of that loop so we are serving a really rapidly expanding area of Fort Worth,” said Davis. This will be the first library to open in the city in the last 10 years but Davis said they are in the works to build even more. “We are planning an additional library in the far south and looking for ways to build and expand and continue to bring libraries for all the residents of Fort Worth,” she said.

The Golden Triangle library will have more than 50,000 books, DVDs, CDs and more. It will also have lots open space and a community room. “The library will have it’s own Maker Space where Science and technology classes can be held. We are looking to add all kinds of programming to this area,” she said.

It was originally scheduled to open in June 2018, but it was pushed back because of issues with the contractor.

City officials expect it to be done by May and open shortly after. It’ll be located on Golden Triangle Boulevard on the corner of North Beach Street near the Crawford Farms Park.
