Dallas District Attorney Discourages Gag Orders Following Dismissal of Contempt of Court Charge

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas County District Attorney is unveiling a new policy on gag orders following a contempt of court charge against him.

The charge against John Creuzot stemmed from an interview he did with a local television station ahead of the Amber Guyger murder trial. The Judge said he violated a gag order, but Creuzot said Tuesday the order doesn’t apply to a District Attorney.

“I was stripped of my rights as an elected official,” said Creuzot. “Or at least attempted to be.”

Creuzot said that even if the order had applied to him he didn’t violate it based on his words in the interview. He claimed he stuck to the language used in the indictment. The charge was eventually dismissed but now Creuzot is pledging to fight 99% of gag orders issued by a Judge in Dallas County.

“I’ve never seen a gag order appealed that was upheld, never” Creuzot said.

According to Creuzot, the Judge in the Guyger trial showed bias against him.
