DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) According to multiple sources the Dallas Cowboys have informed Jason Garrett that he will no longer be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys after 9 and half seasons at the helm of America’s Team. During his time with the Cowboys, Garrett never advanced past the divisional round of the playoffs. This year proved to be one of the most disappointing as a team with Super Bowl expectations failed to make to make the playoffs. Garrett finishes his head coaching career in Dallas with an 85-67 record and three NFC Eastern Division titles.
It was expected that Garrett would not be asked back as coach. There is no word yet on an official announcement.
Garrett had been a coach with the organization since 2007 when he was hired on as offensive coordinator under then head coach Wade Phillips. Garrett played on two of the Cowboys’ Super Bowl winning teams in the 90’s. Prior to coaching, he was most remembered for filling in at quarterback for an injured Troy Aikman in the 1994 Thanksgiving Day game and defeating the Green Bay Packers.
