Fort Worth, TX (WBAP/KLIF) Interim Fort Worth police chief Ed Kraus has been named to the position permanently. The Fort Worth police department has been without a permanent chief since May when Joel Fitzgerald was fired. Chief Kraus has been in the position on an interim basis since then. Former Chief Fitzgerald had been fighting his release and recently was denied a temporary injunction in a Dallas court that would have delayed the city of Fort Worth from hiring his replacement.
City leaders say they will make a formal announcement tomorrow.
