GRAPEVINE (WBAP/KLIF)- A record number of more than 2.5 million passengers is expected to travel at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport during the Thanksgiving holiday. Between Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 and Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019 — the traditional Thanksgiving holiday travel period — DFW will accommodate, on average, more than 208,000 passengers per day. While the days before the holiday will be busy, the busiest day is expected to be Sunday, Dec. 1, when nearly 247,000 passengers will travel to and through the Airport. In fact, the Airport anticipates seeing more than 700,000 passengers between Saturday, Nov. 30 and Monday, Dec. 2.
While it will be one of the busiest periods for travel of the year, the Airport offers plenty of useful tools and services to help make trips go smoothly, whether passengers are departing, arriving or connecting.
“Check on the status of the flight before you get here, you can do this online or through our mobile app to pre pay for parking to make sure that’s taken care of, you can also check TSA wait times through the app in case you need to get here earlier,” said Bill Begley with the DFW airport.
Begley says they’re keeping an eye on wintry weather at other airports. “We work closely with our airline partners to make sure that we are prepared to help customers if they’re impacted, check your flight status before you come to the airport to make sure you’re prepared,” he said.
Begley reminds travelers to give yourself plenty of time and take advantage of the airport’s app.
Not only can you check TSA wait times on the app but you can also order food on the go. Available in all five terminals, GRAB allows customers to order and pay for food in advance. Once arriving in the terminal, customers can skip the line and pick up their food before heading to their next destination.
There are also plenty of options for last-minute holiday purchases at shops throughout the terminals at DFW Airport and using the DFW mobile app can save shoppers money in the process. From Friday, Nov. 22 through Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, mobile app users will find a discount button available that gives customers 10 percent off their purchases at participating stores. Check the DFW mobile app for the list of choices available.
