Protesters Gather Outside Fort Worth City Hall Ahead of Council Meeting, Demanding Justice for Atatiana Jefferson

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- A large crowd gathered outside Fort Worth City Hall ahead of the Council meeting Tuesday night.

Hundreds of Fort Worth Citizens lined city hall holding signs and demanding justice for Atatiana Jefferson, a black woman who was shot and killed by a white Fort Worth Officer Saturday morning.

“This shows that this is not just the black community but all cultures and races that feel the weight of this situation,” said Fort Worth resident Lachelle Goodrich. “We’ve been unfairly for years and after so long we just feel we need some type of justice,” said another resident, John Williams.

Dean has been charged with murder. He has since posted bond and is awaiting trial.

Many of the protesters brought up the Amber Guyger case, another white officer who shot and killed a black man and was sentenced to 10 years for his murder.

“We are here to make sure police are held accountable to the full extent of the law and are punished the same way everyone else is,” said Maria Rodriguez.
