Vehicles Removed from Condemned Dallas Apartment Complex Months after Crane Collapse

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The vehicles trapped in a Deep Ellum area apartment parking garage were being removed Monday, nearly four months after a crane crashed onto the complex in high winds.

One woman was killed and other people were hurt when the crane collapsed on top of the Elan City Lights Apartments. The complex was condemned in the days after the collapse. Residents were forced to find other places to live.

Crews were working Monday morning to remove each vehicle still in the garage by crane. The vehicles were then taken to a seperate location where the owners are able to pick them up.

“It’s been a pain,” said a local business owner. “I know the business next door has lost out on business because they’ve rerouted traffic around here. But it’s nice to have it back open again.”

It’s not clear exactly how many vehicles were in need of removal.
