Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A 72 year old Dallas man has been arrested for allegedly fatally shooting a burglar then going back to bed before calling police two hours later. James Meyer reportedly told detectives he was awakened early Thursday morning by the sound of someone trying to break into his backyard storage shed. He told the officers the would-be burglar ran at him with a pickax when Meyer confronted him, so Meyer shot at him. The burglar ran off. Meyer went back to bed. The body of the burglar was found in a nearby park about two hours later. Meyer says he didn’t know he had hit the burglar when he shot at him, and considered the incident over when the man ran away.
