ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- The Texas Rangers play their last few games at Globe Life Park this week before the new field opens in March. The Rangers have played at Globe Life Park for 25 years. Chuck Morgan Vice President of Ballpark Operations and long time PA announcer said it’s been great hearing from fans about their experiences and memories. “Whether they brought their kids out here for the first time or brought their dad and sat with him to watch a game-special moments they remember… The National Anthem on Opening Day,” he said.
Morgan has the best seat in the house, overlooking fans and the diamond while he announces for the game. Morgan hasn’t missed a day of work since he started working with the Rangers in 1983. He looks back on special moments and many firsts at Globe Life Park but is excited to create new ones at the new field. “The things we won here like our first division title, first American League pennant, and World Series here..that’s what the folks will always remember,” he said.
There’s events planned for the last weekend of games at Globe Life Park. On Friday after the game there will be a fire work show, and again on Saturday. On Sunday, the final game, The Fort Worth Symphony will be preforming the National Anthem to recreate it from Opening Day. “We’ll have about 500 people on the field for this moment,” said Morgan.
After the game, there will be a parade marching from the Old Park to the New Globe Life Field. “Mascots and Marching Bands…we will have about 1,000 people participating in the parade,” he said. Globe Life Park won’t go away though, there’s a few concerts planned there and then it will be home to the new Dallas franchise in the XFL next spring.
