Dallas Fire-Rescue Behind National Standard In Response Times

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Dallas Fire-Rescue is reportedly well behind the national standard for response times to life-threatening emergency calls.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, Dallas Fire-Rescue has only responded to 50.7% of those type of emergency calls within five minutes.

The national standard set forth by the association is for first responders to make it within that time frame 90% of the time.

The Dallas Morning News reports Dallas fell way behind last year too, only making it 53% of the time.

According to city fire officials, one reason is a lack of resources combined with an increased number of calls coming in.
