Carter BloodCare Center Blood Supply is Critically Low, Need Donations Now

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Carter BloodCare Center is in a blood crisis. The blood supply is critically low and they need the DFW community to help donate even more so after this past weekend’s tragic events.

“We were able to respond to the El Paso tragedy because of the donations that came in earlier in the week…We want people to know that the need is ongoing because we have to be not only able to fill patient needs locally but also be able to respond to tragedies like that,” said Keoni Holomon with Carter BloodCare.

Holoman said  they are accepting all blood types, you must be 16 years or older to donate.

“The blood donations have been lower than what we usually send out to hospitals,” said Holoman. Holomon said they sent out about 650 to 1,000 blood products and their collections have been hundreds lower than that.

“The fact that it’s so critically low we don’t know why but they have been tapering off for several months and now we’re hitting a big dip in our blood supply,” she said.

Carter BloodCare is asking that you give blood today at any of their locations or visit them at Dallas Children’s Medical Center (1935 Medical District Dr, Dallas)
