WASHINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) will receive a $8,775,000 federal grant for a series of seven projects involving seven bridges in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn announced. The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Infrastructure For Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant program.
“With more people coming to North Texas each day, we must ensure our infrastructure can meet increasing demands,” said Sen. Cornyn. “Thanks to this grant, bridges in the Metroplex will be safer and support future regional growth. I’m proud to have supported this grant application, and I’m grateful to the Trump Administration for supporting North Texans.”
Jeff Neal with the Council says they will receive the grant by September 2021 or earlier. “We are a very fast growing region with growing transportation needs,” he said. “While we are paying attention to projects that deal with adding new road capacity we also have to focus on projects that work on infrastructure already here,” Neal said.
The seven bridge projects include:
- Loop 12 northbound over Interstate Highway 35E southbound – Dallas County
- IH 35W northbound over Interstate Highway 35W southbound Alvarado Exit – Johnson County
- US 80 eastbound over the East Fork Trinity River – Kaufman County
- FM 460 over US 80 – Kaufman County
- US 180 over Dry Creek – Parker County
- US 287 southbound over Lancaster Avenue – Tarrant County
- US 287 northbound over Carey Street – Tarrant County
