Brenda Delgado, Mastermind in Dallas Murder-for-Hire-Plot, Found Guilty

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Dallas county jury found the  woman accused of being the mastermind in a high-profile murder-for-hire plot found guilty.

In a quick turn around Friday morning, the jury came back with the verdict against Brenda Delgado, who prosecutors said hired two people kill her ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend Dallas dentist Dr. Kendra Hatcher.

Hatcher was shot to death in the parking garage in her Uptown apartment in 2015.

During closing arguments, Delgado’s defense attorney discredited the testimony of the getaway driver Crystal Cortez, who was the state’s star witness in exchange for a lesser sentence.

“They didn’t give her something for nothing. No one gets something for nothing. Life doesn’t work that way,” he said defense attorney.

Prosecutors urged the jury to send a message to Delgado and get justice for Hatcher’s family.

“Come back with a message. The message needs to be lady your never going home,” said the prosecutor.

A jury convicted Kristopher Love, the trigger man in the deadly plot, last year. He was sentenced to death.

After the judge sentenced Delgado to life in prison, Hatcher’s mother gave a tearful testimony.

“Brenda Delgado…justice has been served for the people whose lives were touched in one way or another by this incredible woman you killed. I was honored to be Kendra Hatcher’s mother,” she said.
