North Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – A number of North Texas cities are notifying residents that red light cameras are no longer operating, following Governor Abbott’s signing of a law banning them. Sergeant Evan Mattei with the Frisco Police Department, says their red light cameras have been “deactivated, effective immediately; and, any violation in the cue to be looked at has been dismissed.”
The law officially takes effect September 1st and would allow cities to honor their current contracts, but many cities are finding their contracts can be terminated now, since the ban was passed.
