CEDAR CREEK (WBAP/KLIF News) – Communities across North Texas are cleaning up and dealing with damage after a series of tornadoes and severe storms tore through the area Wednesday.
A tornado touched down in Kemp and caused widespread destruction near the Cedar Creek County Club.
Martha Sawyers lives on the lake and said she saw a water spout fly off the lake and slam into her neighborhood.
“We looked out the window and the trees were swaying so bad sideways and I was going…it’s coming, it’s coming and we went deep into the house,” she said.
Martha’s husband, Clayton, said he saw the twister rip through the golf course.
“It’s taken a whole lot of trees on the golf course. The course is closed. You can’t get to them. It even hit the maintenance barn,” he said.
Several homes suffered extensive damage. Only one minor injury was reported.
Meanwhile, tornadoes also touched down in Canton, only one minor injury was reported there, and the north Fort Worth neighborhood of Heritage Trace.
A storm survey has concluded that a brief EF-1 tornado occurred yesterday in North Fort Worth in the Heritage Trace subdivision. Maximum winds were estimated at 90 mph. Path length was almost a half mile. #dfwwx #txwx
