Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The Insurance Council of Texas says the storm driven winds that roared through DFW Wednesday morning did at least $30 million worth of damage, probably a lot more. The Council says 6,000 wind-related claims have already been filed, more almost certainly will be, so total damages could reach $50 million or more. Most of the claims are clustered in the five counties surrounding the metroplex.
The wind was clocked at 78 miles an hour at DFW Airport, and 109 miles an hour at Grand Prairie’s airport. At the Grand Prairie Airport 67 planes were damaged, as were 13 buildings.
