The Border Patrol saves five immigrants from drowning in the Rio Grande

Eagle Pass (WBAP/KLIF) – U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued five immigrants from Honduras who nearly drowned while trying to illegally enter the U.S. by wading across the river that separates Mexico from Texas. It happened Friday morning in the Rio Grande, between Eagle Pass, Texas, and Piedras Negras, Mexico. Some of the rescued Hondurans were children, including a 1 year old and a 3 year old.
It’s unclear whether they were part of the caravan of some 1,600 people now waiting in Piedras Negras for the U.S. to process their applications for asylum.
