Uvalde (WBAP/KLIF) – A 12 year old boy in the town of Uvalde has been arrested for the shooting death of a professional boxer. 24 year old John VanMeter was gunned down on his front porch Wednesday night when he went to see who was trying to open his front door. Witness descriptions lead police to the 12 year old boy who will not be identified because of his age. He is now in juvenile detention, charged with capital murder. Because of his age the maximum possible sentence if he’s convicted will be 40 years in prison. VanMeter has been a professional boxer since 2015, fighting under the nickname “The California Kid.”
