Grand Prairie, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A Grand Prairie man was convicted Monday of capital murder in the “savage” beating death of his girlfriend’s 4-year-old daughter.
36-year old Charles Phifer received an automatic life sentence, without the possibility of parole for beating Leiliana Wright with a bamboo switch and belts and throwing her against a wall.

In a plea deal the girl’s mother, 30-year old Jeri Quezada is serving 50-years after admitting to tying her daughter’s hands behind her back and stringing her up in a closet. she testified against Phifer during the trial. Both had been doing heroin on the day of the beating. The judge told Phifer that he should die in a locked closet.
