African Dust Poised to Cloud North Texas

  • Another cloud of Saharan dust is due to cloud the skies of the Dallas Fort Worth and all of North Texas as soon as Sunday.  Meteorologists with the National Weather Service say the dust cloud can be seen on satellite images; currently it is located in the southern Gulf of Mexico.  The Coastal Bend area and Houston will be blanketed first with the dusty, murky air, which will then make its way north into North Texas.   People with breathing problems may choose to stay inside or at the least, consider postponing outdoor exercise until the dusty conditions dissipate.  Forecasters say it will likely take more heavy rains in the Metroplex before skies will completely clear.
