(WBAP/KLIF News) – The Collin County Sheriff’s Office opened it’s new 911 dispatch center Wednesday morning.
It’s a project that cost the county almost $900,000.
Kelley Stone is with the sheriff’s office and said the upgrade was needed because dispatchers routinely work in high pressure situations.
“You just have to have an environment where your focused and it’s critical that they have the tools that they need,” he said.
The new center will have individualized temperature control for dispatchers as well as flexible workstations allowing them to stand up.
Stone said they’re now equipped with first-rate digital equipment to help dispatchers better serve the public.
“Overall the efficiencies of the operations of these new consoles we’re getting a new radio system as well too just allows the dispatcher to be more focused on public safety,” he said.
The county is expected to add more dispatchers as it continues to grow.
