CEDAR HILL (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Cedar Hill middle school had extra security on campus Tuesday after someone posted a series of threats on social media.
The person posted the threats on Instagram and one of them threatened to “shoot up the school” during first period at 7:35 a.m.
Sharon Young’s niece attends Permenter Middle School and was in tears as she walked into her class this morning.
“I think if I wasn’t able to come up here with her. I think I probably would have said ‘no, let’s wait around’,” she said.
Young said she’s getting tired of people posting these types of threats against innocent children on social media.
“I don’t want to see anything happen to none of these kids. We’re going to have to work this out. We’re really going to have to,” she said.
An officer and administrator ushered kids inside before classes began with additional officers circling the perimeter of the campus.
The School district is encouraging kids to follow the mantra “If you see something, say something”.
This is the social media threat made against @cedarhillisd‘s Permenter Middle School. The district says they’re putting more officers on campus today to be safe, and they’re telling people “if you see something, say something.” @WBAP247NEWS @570KLIF pic.twitter.com/t0rZl116D7
