FRISCO  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The City of Frisco and the Dallas Cowboys are celebrating the grand opening of the entertainment district at the Star in Frisco.

Frisco Mayor Jeff  Chaney said the partnership with the Cowboys has brought with it opportunities for restaurants and other businesses.

“It’s been a great partnership obliviously having the brand of the Dallas Cowboys tied with the brand of the City of Frisco was a unique mission for us,” he said.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said incorporating retail was something he learned at an early age.

“I grew up in retailing. My sister and I lived above the store. I had the greatest coaching in the world…couple of the greatest entrepreneurial coaching parents that you could ever draw up,” he said.

The grand opening at the Star will run through the weekend.

Texas Country artist Pat Green will kick things off with a concert at 7:30 Thursday night in front of the Ford Center.

The celebration will feature other events including a free Dallas Cowboys football academy, live music from the Jordan Kahn orchestra and an Easter Sunday service at the Prestonwood Baptist Church.
